I never checked out any quote from Darwin because Darwin was a man. A man who proposed a theory based on evidence he collected. He never made any claims to infalliablility. So whether he personally said something is irrelevant. Whether he personally made errors in judgement is irrelevant. All that is relevant is that he proposed something that has been conclusively proven to be (not the perfect explanation for all of eternity) but rather the best explanation at this point-in-time.

Quotes by someone that claims to be the essence of perfection, however, are worthy of verification. Because even the smallest error is proof that they are not what they claim to be ... perfect.
