I suspect they would be ecstatic.
This is the stuff on which PhD dissertations are written. This is the stuff that in the publish or perish world of university academics is a guaranteed publication with opportunitites to speak about your find at a conference or two.
Unless they think you are making it all up I suspect they will jump at the opportunity to check it out.
