There was a time when there was a lack of food to feed the people on the planet. That is no longer the case.
When there was a need for more food ... efforts in that direction were justified.
As that is no longer the case the justification for what Monsanto is doing has nothing to do with making more food. And less pesticide too is a red herring. There are plenty of ways to create just as much food without using pesticides. The difference is that they don't benefit a chemical company.
Making a profit is not a sin. There is nothing wrong with what Monsanto is trying to do. There is something wrong, however, with playing the corporate denyability game. It is what it is. Nothing more. Nothing less.
