The point of GM crops is to make farmers part of the pipeline that moves cash from consumers to Monsanto: Nothing more.

..uh.. and also money to themselves, and also to provide us with food, and to use less pesticides. But other than that.. you're right, nothing more.

And that is not intended as an insult to Monsanto: Rather as just a statement of fact. That is the purpose of any for-profit organization.

Including farms, grocery stores, pesticide companies, and of course the buying public which doesn't want to pay extra for whatever the bugs don't eat.

GM crops have always been a solution to a problem that doesn't truly exist. Unless the problem is defined to be farmers that aren't bankrupt.

Likewise, genetically "bred" crops are solutions to problems that didn't exist. Who really needed those newer more productive varieties of corn bred in the 30's, 40's and 50's. Just venal farmers and seed companies out to make a fast buck.
