No surprises here. If a GM product is designed to be resistant to a particular flavor of insecticide then that flavor of insecticide will be used to the exclusion of others to control weeds for that particular crop. Since this flavor is being used to the exclusion of others, more weeds are exposed to this particular flavor. Since more weeds are exposed, the opportunities for the weeds to adapt are more numerous. Consequently, the weeds adapt more readily. The solution is to alter the GM product from time to time as to be resistant to a different flavor for which the weeds have not adapted. IOW, it’s a function of GM design maintenance.
