Paragraph 1: You don't know me as well as you assume. I'm not bleeding heart liberal: Not very liberal at all.
Paragraph 2: I would support a policy that states than any government not freely elected by its people is without portfolio ... without authority. And that we reserve the right to remove it whenever it violates the human rights of the citizenry (which does not mean we do it everywhere but rather that will can and may). And then, in the worst cases, I would do so. I have little fear of using the military as we currently use the police ... to stop murder, torture, kidnapping, and extortion.
Paragraph 3:
Only sons? How about a daughter in the US Air Force Academy? I don't make decisions on pubic policy based on short-term selfish considerations. I think our children are in far more danger from not acting than from acting. A lesson most people should have learned around 1939.
