We humans have an interesting way of creating priorities.
Big threats like cellular phone usage are major social issues. Likewise airline passengers being overweight.
A rock crashing into the planet and wiping out tens of millions of people ... one telescope ... a few grad students ... less money than what is spent on watching a major league baseball game.
My advice to humanity ... please don't whine, after the fact, about "if only we'd known."
