The sheer presence of other people in that density would drive people like me insane very quickly, if there were no way to get away from them regularly. There's a reason for hermitry.
I haven't gotten to the Soylent green yet, or the red or yellow, either. I still have a supply of tempeh I'm working on, and enough soybeans for lots and lots of tofu. Sprouts go well with nearly everything, and they're very nutrtious. Have you ever tried some on a TVP (Textured Vegetable Protein) Taco? Then there's my vat of Rhodotorula in the corner, fermenting away next to the mealworms and crickets. Why, with a little imagination anyone can have their own little ranch and raise all the protein they can possibly want, home grown and sanitary as you please, ready anytime you are.
There's more than one way to skin a cat, or survive graduate school. :-)
