you right about both the modified aminos and the additional nucleotides

what is interesting to me is that even though the 21st amino has been known for many years it is almost never mentioned in textbooks even of fairly advanced nature

now that there are 22 known to naturally occur in vivo, i wonder how many textbooks will incorporate that info over the next ten years

or will we continue to see statements like, * there are 20 naturally occuring amino acids that are the building blocks of life forming polypeptide sequences (proteins)*

or there are *about 20 amino acids that are the building blocks of life*

that 21st amino is rarely mentioned in the literature other than textbooks as well
