Imagine how long this myth lasted without any serious questioning and probably will still continue. There are probably many more myths like this lying and lieing around we haven't considered. The only reason I can think of as to why it was accepted was to believe we had some hidden armour to protect ourselves from the uncertainty of life. Not a bad reason, but a eternal pointer to our eternal subjectivity to everything. A neccessary evil to survive. Have I said too much.
