my observation was that the originally posted question related to human intelligence and computer intelligence.

defining intelligence doesn't seem to me to be 'avoiding' the question, it seems to be 'clarifying' the question.

from what i have heard, computers 'compute'.
they are able to do mathematical procedures quickly and accuarately.
they are able to figure out many possibilities of chess moves quickly, more quickly than humans.

from what i have heard, computers, so far, have not been able to define new mathematical concepts, as Newton and Leibniz did when they devised calculus.
from what i have heard, computers, so far, have not been able to devise new ways of playing chess, for example 3-dimensional chess.

let's not move on,
let's move along with the topic.
