The difference in our positions seems to be that I do not believe that political correctness/superstition/acceptable dogma is the result of the power of the masses but rather the power of ignorance. The more knowledge people have the less they accept incorrect reasoning. Galileo was already fighting his entire world. Adding more people on the side of the Church would not have changed his opinion. But allowing him to demonstrate what he saw to the world through a global satellite real time video link would have quickly added believers in his position.
