Well, you wouldn't want to be near the current shuttles while they were taking off either....
The lazer propulsion system is just to aid the ship make small movements in space...;) The main liftoff engine is supposed to use tipical hydrogen/oxygen engine...Well, that was the idea then...but I dun't think the force of photons would have any effect anyway..Maybe it'll help destroy some satellites instead...LOL
