I was not kidding. Waiters, waitresses, ushers, nurses (especially nurses), many service personnel such as cab drivers, pilots, flight attendants, parking lot attendants, sanitation workers (I recently overhead a mother instructing her young child that this person who was emptying their trash was "Mr. Trashman", not a very flattering moniker) all are referred to by the job titles and often appear to have no other name. They are not referred to as Mr. Jones, the cab driver, or Mrs. Willis, the nurse. They are invisible, erased as it were. Their identity is a cipher to all but a few loved ones and friends. I pray I never become "the author" somewhere.
