You are correct. Lumping doesn't make anything right or wrong.
But looking out into space and seeing a galaxy that is one billion light years away makes it impossible for the universe to be 6,000 years old.
And that is immutable fact!
Perhaps you god is playing a cruel joke on you. We certainly know it wouldn't be the first time he got his laughs at the expense of the naive and the innocent.
