I can't help but get a kick out of how you treat science like it is a snapshot rather than a movie.
Your attitude can be summed up by taking a picture of the ocean and say ... don't see any evidence of life here so it must not exist. As opposed to letting a movie camera role over a period of centuries and discovering many living creatures.
The state of any theory today is that it is the best possible explanation available to our species, on this planet, at this moment in time. We don't claim perfection. We don't claim to be divinely inspired. We don't claim to be the absolute word of some diety.
Thus science has the opportunity to correct itself and that is what every paper in every scientific journal does each and every day.
You, unfortunately, are trapped with a 2000 year old mythology that can't admit it is wrong. Can't admit to inconsistencies even though they are glaringly obvious, and solves the problem by lying about its own history while simultaneously proclaiming itself the guardian of all that is moral and ethical. Sorry ... but I lump your understanding of science with Cardinal Law's understanding of the teachings of his church.
