I think the report you heard was put out a couple of months ago. That one was based on a volcanic eruption on one of the islands in the Eastern Atlantic causing a land slip into the Atlantic, on the American side of the island. They predicted that if/when the event occured a massive tsunami would hit the East coast of the US. No estimate of when it would happen.
Basically I figure it was picked up by the news because of the wonderful chance to forecast a massive disaster.
