according to my research they are bubbles with holes in them. my research is based on genetically crossing Mint Polo's with Cadbury's Aero bars, and then slightly melting the result, before passing the concoction through a very very large enormously complex thingimagig howgoesit fandangleybob.

by doing this i gathered some very strange and thought provoking results.

My research is to be published soon in the 100023rd dimensional New Scientist mag.
