I wouldn't count on changing the mind of a fanatic. Fanatics, if nothing else, are defined by their belief in the absolute certainty and correctness of whatever it is they believe. Try to take that away and it hurts them as much as trying to remove their liver without anesthesia.
Whether fundamentalist Christian, Orthodox Jew, Palestinian terrorist, flat-earther, Nazi, Communist, Iranian cleric ... they are all the same. Perhaps desparately in need of some Prozac.
