Re: The Future of Cars? (Natalie L. Smith)

You are quite right Natalie, your excellent description on the conversion of kinetic braking
into electrical energy, will certainly be used in the car of the future. Touche' regarding Sodium Peroxide, you are right again.
However not one to give up, I have been wracking my brain to find a way to develop huge quantitys of POLLUTION FREE Hydrogen for car fuel cells.
I think I have found the answer. The use of Wind Power turbines (the fastest growing UK industry in the field of power generation) should be more than sufficient.
One Megawatt of wind generating capacity will easily satisfy the needs of 1000 people (or approx
350 households) in our modern society. These are
Danish figures -who already get 18% of their electricity from the wind.
I understand that new USA wind farms have come online in Colorado,Iowa, Kansas,Oregon,& Wyoming.
Making the USA second in the world for generating electricity from the wind. (Germany is first,
generating 6,000MW's)
Electrolysing water to produce Hydrogen in quantity. By compressing the gas, together with automatic cylinder storage,....the motorist could pay, and pick up a cylinder pack, as required to fuel his car.
OR, everyone could invest in a small personal 1000 watt wind turbine (in their garden?)that would electrolyse 1000 litres of water, every 10 hours?
Producing more than enough Hydrogen to run the family car, if these Hydrogen fuel cells are as good as they say they are.
Hurrah for the Car.I am sure it always be with us!
