Not at all. They are interchangeable but not the same thing at all. Though the differences can be viewed as purely semantic.

Consider the following analogous statement:

Water is ice,
ice is water,
or neither is the case.
(a 'lay scientists' view).
forsooth, you ARE undone.

Try bathing with ice or sculpting water and you will quickly see the difference.

In both cases ... the items are interchangeable. But to say they are the same is a misnomer.

PS: Einstein never write E=mc^2. That is a simplification for the public only true in a universe lacking in spin which ours is not.
