Sorry about that.

You might want to look into lizards.

Most mammals seem to suffer rather poor effects from even one chromosome being tripled. I can't imagine they'd fare too well from duplication of the entire genome.

I suppose someone will try it, now, since it's been suggested. I think someone already produced some tetraploid mice, once? Seems they were striped, or some such. Mice with four parents, I think they were billed. Made quite a splash at the time. Check old issues of Science.
