I'm not sure what you're getting at but i too would have included references had i been replying to a post that contained them. I actually thought about doing so but figured it wasn't really helpful in this case, given what I perceived to be the scientific-naivety of the one to whom I was replying. Instead, I asked for them, which I thought was more appropriate.
As to the source of references; i've personally got no objection to .gov sources so long as they seem unbiased and reliable (or at least as unbiased as a .gov can be). They are almost always more reliable than .org sources and at least as reliable as .edu sources, which is not to suggest I think either of the latter are inherently unreliable.
