Hmmmm....who knew? In re: Beginning of time

Saw this thread of Dale's below, just now starting to wonder. In quantum theory if actions require observations (i.e., Schroedinger's Cat), and there was no one around to observe the beginning of time, why aren't we all still "in the box with the cat?"

...er...perhaps there was an Observer?
