About the fight, I've seen elephants pushing each other with their heads, the tusk apparently incidently causeing damage (unknowingly). They hardly carry tusks all their generations for the rear (mayby not) digging out of young. There was probably no need to lose them from an earlier time I'd accept as possible. But if you watch elephants and the tusks look so important and get so little use, you would wonder, what the hell. You're right about the rest. But how about Bessy's project.
