Re: Of Bafflegab and Science... (bobbapink)

Dear B-P;

I know what you mean. But you confuse me. 8)

You may have misconstrued my message -- of COURSE language is learned -- the sci-fi guys are debating just where in tarnation (i.e., Cre-ation)the areas of the Brain that are being used in written language came from, since they are ubiquitously used throughout humanity, whether they have had a written language or not, they all can be taught to do it, and whatever the reason, it happened VERY late in the timeline of humanity.

It's not like operating a Bop-it Extreme (c) when you've never seen one before, it's more like levitating small objects or bending spoons and finding that everybody can do it, when nobody but the "Uri Gellars" have done it before. (I'm kidding!) -- what area of the Brain is doing that?

No, I didn't read your mind, nor do I have a Bop-it Extreme (c) near me, but I DO bend spoons (much to Mrs. Sparrow's disconcert).

Kidding aside, this is a MAJOR problem in neuroscience/anthropology.

Any ideas?
