(204.212.222.70)Long-term exposure to air pollution that contains high concentrations of tiny particles of soot and dust significantly increases the risk of dying from lung cancer and heart disease, according to a new nationwide study. Over many years, the danger of breathing soot-filled air in polluted cities is comparable to the health risks associated with long-term exposure to second-hand smoke, according to the authors of the study, which evaluated the effects of air pollution on human health over a 16-year period.

Actually just “comparable to the health risks associated with long-term exposure to second-hand smoke” is pretty innocuous. I guess we have to take what we find. Still might be useful in getting people to change from fossil generated electricity to nuke. From the link Bobba posted the other day, second hand smoke is 20 times as hazardous as even the anti-nuke fanatic’s estimates of nuke power. Neither are very hazardous compared to suicide but we need to do what we can.
