To answer indirectly, I don't think I've ever seen a pregnant female of the herd being targeted, they can by no means be the fastest, as against some of the youngest males or females, the reason is they are protected by the leader and therefore the whole herd. I think when the preditor looks the the so-called weakest, they are looking for the unprotected. The more isolated members of the herd who can't find proper refuge in the pack. And who no other animal seems concerned enough to shelter them. This is only my guess but I've believed it for years as a better explanation from what I see. The herd needs probably thousands of attributes to survive, fleeing lions is probably not high on their list.
