Actually, I quite agree with you... mostly. I can only say that my own personal experiences lead me to the conclusion that there is some part of human existence that exists outside flesh and blood and is capable of action and influence, at least to some small extent.
It is not easy to explain, and it is far outside the purview of this forum. It may be that my experience is unique. I sort of doubt it, though.
