I need to use my Brain

I would very much appreciate if anyone could offer me some advice.
I trained as a scientist and have had a great passion for science all my life. I applied to do clinical research (the stuff you do on humans) in my final year at college. Several companies were interested in me but unfortunately I could not start the jobs soon enough so they were unable to take me on. Knowing that I had what it took I applied for and got a job as a medical rep with one of the companies who were interested in me becoming a clinical scientist. This was supposed to be a stop gap of a few months while looked for the job I wanted. That was 4 years ago. I can honestly say that I have never been so mind numbingly, sole destroyingly, spirit crushingly bored in my whole life, working with the kind of shallow people that the likes of Steve Coogan have made a career out of taking the p**s out of.
Everywhere I now apply to now thinks that I am yet another disilusioned rep wanting to give up repping without relinquishing the car.
Is there anyone out there who has been in a similar position or who is in the type of job I would like, who is able to give me some advice as to how to get out of the hell hole I am in at the moment.

I look forward to receiving any comments.

Regards

Sam

P.S. My spelling is appauling and for this I apologise
