It kind of smells like sewing machine oil but very nice, durable blanket. Just hang it outside on a clothesline for a day once you get it. Looking forward to a bushcraft adventure night with it soon. I have heard of these shedding a lot the first time you wash them, so take it to the laundromat to wash the first time.

This blanket washes very well, wool cycle or delicate, air and line dry. Comes out a little cashmere-y, fluffy and soft. Packs thicker than a traditional army blanket, but does the job well. I use these between our sleeping bags and our air beds, like a mattress pad. Wool prevents the dampness that can sometimes occur from condensation on an airbed. Also regulates temperature very well.

It is a warm and comfortable blanket, But it smelled of machine oil and I had to wash it 3 times with strong detergents and Febreeze it alot. If any wants to do all that it is worth it. be prepared for lots of lint from the loss fibers.

I absolutely love the wool blanket but however like what you read online, new wool blanket have tinge of gasoline smell to it. The wool will start to shed as well. I was expecting all that so it's all good.
