At the time of Superman 276's printing, DC was publishing SHAZAM!. The lead character with Superman is not called Captain Marvel or SHAZAM though, just has an alias very similar to Billy Batson and powers like Cap's. This is a good battle issue and from what I can tell, the second time similar characters interact (see Justice League of America #103 for another situation). After this, they actually do meet in Justice League #137 in what is listed as a battle, but it never really happens. In 1978, DC finally published All New Collector's Edition C-58 (treasury) and the heroes battle legitimately. What is really lost in that issue is that it's the 2nd modern appearance of Black Adam (after SHAZAM! #28) and there is a battle between Supergirl and Black Adam. Curt Swan does a great job in a good battle issue here. It is good for subsequent battles and establishing what could happen if they met. I liked it...I hope you will too.Read full review
