I used this to boost my HDTV antenna in the attic. I had about 60 ft of coax going down into the basement and there was significant signal drop. The SPF5189 is a very capable device and I chose this unit over the others because it had the shielding over the device circuit. Results were outstanding. I get about 48 HDTV channels in the north east Philadelphia area. I bought two units and plan to use the other on an automotive hd radio application where the antenna is built into the rear defroster grid.

Added more noise than signal, might work in some cases, but without LNA noise level dropped so signals were easier to read. Might be nice to experiment with, but it adds a lot of noise. Tried on VHF and 6m HF and I had better signals with a bare antenna. Could work better with a clean power supply, but I used a cheap wall wart just to try out

First one I bought burned out. Second one works fine. Third one was of a different type, it doesn't work at all. Forth one is still in transit, and is of the same type. For the cost it's fine. quality is a mixed term. We'll see what the 3rd of it's kind does.
