The name 1N60P can be used for schottky diodes, and unfortunately that's what these are. Why they are all over the pages of ebay listed as germanium is anyone's guess. The first clue is the price. A normally priced germanium diode nowadays is around a dollar each. These were in a pack of 60 for a couple dollars. The next is the physical size of the part. A germanium diode is a small glass vial with a small wire inside - and the size is about a quarter of an inch long. These are red and black and resemble common switching diodes - and are around an eighth of an inch long. But the biggest deal about a germanium diode is its reverse voltage specification. Germaniums tend to leak quite a lot and for that reason are used in fuzz pedals and crystal radios for signal detection. These diodes measured zero leakage - confirmation that they are not the real deal.Read full review
