Very Rare - sent directly from a major production crew member Ben Burtt who designed the sound of Star Wars at Lucasfilm in 1983

NOT A PHOTO BUT AN ACTUAL SIGNED LETTER on rare Original production stationary with original Return of the Jedi production mailing envelope.

8 1/2 x11" originally folded Letter signed by Star Wars Academy Award winning Sound Designer Ben Burtt from May 11, 1983 on ORIGINAL Return of the Jedi production stationary! Obtained directly from Ben Burtt after I wrote to him at Lucasfilm back in 1983 through the Star Wars Fan Club.

Comes with the original Return of the Jedi mailing envelope that is post office stamped from May of 1983 (I've blurred out my name and original mailing address only in the photos but it is not blurred out on the envelope itself)

Ben Burtt types "May 11, 1983 Dear Jeff, Thank you for your kind letter. It's always a pleasure to hear favorable comments about the soundtrack. Not being a movie star, I do not have a photograph to send you, I trust an autograph will do. Best Regards"

then he signs his name Ben Burtt and underneath types

"Ben Burtt Sound Designer Lucasfilm Ltd."

Rare that it is on Original Return of the Jedi stationary prior to release of the film later in May.

Bottom left corner of the letter has printed Chapter III Company - A subsidiary of Lucasfilm followed by their PO box in San Rafael, their Telephone #, and the Telex #.

Stationary page is in remarkable condition for it's age (39 years) but does show some wear. Slight creasing on bottom left corner and on bottom right (Hard to see in photos). Also hard to see in photos is that the letter has two ORIGINAL HORIZONTAL FOLD LINES from where Ben Burtt folded the letter to put it in the mail. Very slight tear above the D in Jedi on top of the letter edge - barely 1/4" long - hard to see I show a close scan of it in the sale photos - Doesn't affect the printing lettering at all as it barely comes off the edge of the letter.

Would make an amazing display piece in any collection alongside Darth Vader or R2-D2 items or even next to your Master Replicas Lightsaber (He designed the sound of Star Wars - Darth Vader's Breathing, R2-D2s beeps, The sound of the Lightsaber, etc..)
