This nodder salt and pepper set has the heads of a male and female Indians with a feather in their hair, resting in a yellow basket with geometric designs. Stamped on the nodders is "Patent T.T." There's some confusion about the company that this mark represents, I found it attributed to a Chicago importer and manufacturer in Japanese china and novelty items and its successor Taiyo Trading, the result of a 1919 merger. Taiyo used the mark of 2 connecting diamonds with T's inside, so I'm not sure it's the same company. I think this set was likely made in Japan and dates from the 50's or early 60's. The base is 3 1/4 inches in diameter and the nodders just under 4 inches high. The female has a demure expression with eyes closed; the male has a roguish look. the set's in good condition except for some wear on the black hair of the figures in the back.
