The compartments have lids with carved handles. The wood is two tone which I believe is natural to the wood. In order to open you slide off the feet first then the top. When putting the feet back on there is only one direction otherwise it will get wedge too tight. It should feel loose.CONDITION: good condition, had some tape on it which I attempted to clean off with Goo Gone. Still slightly visible. Has a small spot on one \"ear\".
