1986 BISQUE PORCELAIN SANTA TRIMMING TREE MUSICAL FIGURINE BY MANN

This is a lovelyvintage musical SantafromMann! Santa is putting the finishing touch on a Christmas tree, while he checks carefully to make sure no one sees him. The details are beautiful and this ceramic is made out offine bisque porcelain. ThisSantaalso plays "Santa Claus is Coming to Town"when you wind the key on the bottom. It's inperfect conditionand comes in theoriginal box.
8 x 4½" tall; Santa in perfect condition NOTE: The name "Jonny" is written on the bottom.
The Mann Companyoriginated as Lipper & Mann in 1946, and were importers of fine glass and ceramics. Their wares were imported to their New York City showroom from Czechoslovakia and other European countries, and sold to all the finest stores.
SeymourMannwas a legend not only in the gift industry, but in the art and entertainment world as well.
Mann, who died in February at the age of 92, started out as a professional musician. He worked on Broadway, in New York City nightclubs and at summer resorts in the Catskills, and was the first percussionist to play "Begin the Beguine" in Cole Porter's musical "Jubilee."
Mannand his wife, Eda, a well-known artist whose paintings hang in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, together entered the world of Asian porcelain. For many years, EdaMannwas the chief designer for the pair, developing products for the American market.
