Victorian Advertising Trade Card "Beginning and End of Life" SKULL Illusion Card:
$130.00
Here’s a rare Victorian Advertising Trade Card, circa 1890s. This is an “illusion” card, entitled “The Beginning and the End of Life”. It shows a picture of two young girls playing with a dog and toys, but if you hold the card far away, the picture becomes a skull. The card was advertising for the William Deering & Company of Chicago Illinios, later to become part of the International Harvester Company. The spooky card was in part a play on words, as the back cover explains the “Skull Duggery” of the competition, and also a product called “The Deering Light Reaper”.
