OLD TECHNOLOGY ASSOCIATESPresentsIn almost 40 years of collection steam whistles and patent models, this is the only Patent Model of a Steam Whistle I have ever found. When you consider the Patent office's size limitations on models, it just may be the only one still in existence.
John Murray's patent is for an "...arrangement of patterns and cores, by which I am enabled to produce a whistle for steam or other engines in one entire piece, as shown in the drawings;..."
The whistle is 2 1/2" in diameter by 7 1/4" tall, and the bell is just over 4" tall. The tag is torn and a little tattered, but all the pertinent information is present. Here's a most unusual curiosity, the patented is dated DEC. 18, 1866, and then, as both the tag and the patent itself states, it is 'antedated, Oct. 7, 1866'. I have never seen that either.
