Up for sale is the RIGHT toname a new snake species from Andean Peru (see photos). I discovered thissnake during a recent legal expedition in Peru after obtaining all requiredpermits. The snake is about 40 cm long (15.7 inches), well camouflaged, and haspretty copper-colored eyes.

Species unknown to scienceneed to be scientifically described, distinguished from those known and namedaccording to the Zoological Code of Nomenclature.

The new species\' name becomesvalid on the day of its publication, and the name cannot be changedsubsequently. I will keep the lucky winner informed about each step of thisprocess. The manuscript is completed except for the new name I am waiting toinclude, and it will then be submitted to a scientific journal.

Species can be named, e.g.,after people, after localities, and after morphological characters. Those whoare interested in purchasing the right to name the new snake species areencouraged to contact me beforehand (or latest within three days after winningthe sale) with their ideas for the name to make sure it is acceptable (e.g.,not already been used), and I will give my suggestions. Once I accept the namethe buyer has selected it will from that time on be used in the manuscript forthe new species.
