It's The Seldom-Seen Penultimate Issue Of The Cult-Classic Small Press Occult-Horror Series By Pines/Visual Editions - Standard Comics. Almost All Of This Series Is Difficult To Find, I Suspect They Had Splotchy Distribution Back In The Day. This Violent Issue Features Lurid Content Including The Lead Story By The Respected Ralph Mayo, "Monsters Of The Deep", With Diabolical Evil Mermaids. Other Haunting Tales Include A Grisly Undead Zombie In "No Rest For The Dead" By The Underrated Gene Fawcette. The "Fifth Corpse" Story Of A Demented Murderer And Retribution Was Drawn By Rocke Mastroserio. The Whole Book Is Full Of Top-Notch Art, Including Work By The Masterful Mike Sekowsky In The "Death Reaches Out" Story, Along With Memorable Occult Tales By Rocco Mastroserio AndOthers.This Was The April, 1954, Issue Of The Supernatural Title. The Pre-Code Horror/Sci-Fi Craze Was At Its Apex When This Issue Was Released SoIt's Got The Ubiquitous Salacious Content Including Undead Zombie Creatures, Voodoo Curses, Monsters, Spirits, Mermaids, Ghouls And/Or Good Girl Art And Graphic Violence And Supernatural Themes. THE OBSCURE SKELETON-EMBRACE COVERS OF THE FIFTIES ARE OFTEN OVERLOOKED BY NOVICE COLLECTORS, BUTMANY SUCH AS VENUS #19 AND CHAMBER OF CHILLS #23 HAVE BECOME EXPENSIVE IN RECENT YEARS, AND OTHERS LIKE THIS THAT ARE MUCH RARER PROBABLY WON'T REMAIN AFFORDABLE FOR MUCH LONGER, SO DON'T MISS THIS FLEETING OPPORTUNITY. The Monster, Shock And Supernatural Themes Never Go Out Of Style! This hails from a dark, dry, pet-free, non-smoking, climate-controlled environment. It is complete, supple and presentable, bold and very glossy. This comes from my long-term personal horror collection, as I finally found this lovely example in the late nineties after several years of searching. The eye-appeal is amazing! There is an arrival date at top left and scuffs to the center of the spine, plus the obligatory spine-stresses and tiny corner crease to lower right, and a thin horizontal crease at the top edgeat the overhang, and some minuteedge flaws, but it's still incredibly clean and bright and looks awesome in the archival mylar. When you inspect it closely, the innards are nice and supple, some pages have a discolored area at the top-right corner in the blank margin, with no creases or writing or other major problems, and they are a fresh off-white in color. The glossy back cover has a lighter area to top left corner, along with a few discreet edge bumps and spine-stresses, and some small spots ofsmudging and diminished gloss, but no major problems.
