The core of this billet is 1095 High Carbon, a pure highcarbon steel, and the most widely used by professional Bladesmiths. Able to achieve hardness above 65 HRC, 1095can be hardened to keep an extreme edge.The San Mai construction of the billet has paired this durable and versatilepure High Carbon Steel, to a mild outer jacket, giving the steel billet was forged by hand, by Bladesmith John Glueck athis forge located in Sacramento, California. Known for making some of thefinest knives and razors in the world, this billet is the perfect example ofthe type of steel that John uses to craft his world class blades.
The billet is shipped fully annealed and can be ground asis, or forged.
