Accompanying this 11\" X 14\" print is a guide of explanation, a portionas follows:

\"In 1954 Mr. Chester Dale, President of the Board of Trusteesof the National Gallery of Art, encouraged Salvador Dali to create thispicture. At his home in Spain, the Spanish master designed “The Sacrament ofthe Last Supper” along classical lines. The frame is in the shape of the so-calledgolden rectangle discussed by writers on “dynamic symmetry.” Dividing thisrectangle into a number of smaller rectangles and squares, Dali drew diagonallines connecting the various angles, and with reference to these lines hearranged his group of communing votaries around the Eucharistic table.\"

At the bottom of this guide of explanation is a reference tothe 11” X 14” color reproduction and color postcards available in the Galleryinformation rooms.

We are assuming the previous owner purchased this print whenvisiting the National Gallery of Art and brought it home as a souvenir, packed it away, never having it framed.
