Verdigris patina isa green or blue-green layer of oxidation
that forms naturally on copper, bronze, and brass when
exposed to air, salt water, or weak acids:

*Features the scene from The Angelus, an oil painting by Jean Francois Millet,
completed in 1859. The painting depicts two peasants at noon, bowing
in a field over a basket of potatoes to say a prayer of thanksgiving and
remembrance as a church bell ringson the horizon. It is said that over the
centuries workers in the fields halted their labors and prayed when they
heard the Angelus bell. There are also stories that animals
would automatically stop plowing and stand quietly at the bell.

Millet said: \"The idea for The Angelus came to me because I remembered
that my grandmother, hearing the church bell ringing while we were working
in the fields, always made us stop work to say the Angelus prayer for the poor departed\".
Completed between 1857 and 1859, it is an oil painting on canvas.
