BIOGRAPHY

J. Theodore Johnson (1902 - 1963)was an American artist and muralist.[1]He was born inOregon, Illinois, in 1902 and studied at theArt Institute of Chicagofrom 1921 to 1925. He became an artist and instructor in life drawing at the institute from 1928 to 1929. He also taught at the Minneapolis School of Art and the San José College in California.[2]He died in Sunnyvale, California, in 1963.Works and awards

Mary, a portrait, was awarded aMr. and Mrs. Frank G. Logan Prizeat the 1928 Chicago and Vicinity annual exhibition of theArt Institute of Chicago, and is now in their permanent collection.
Suzanne, a nude, was awarded the Joseph N. Eisendrath Prize by the Art Institute of Chicago in 1928.
