Art HistoryHouse of Fabergé
Peter Carl Fabergé (Russian, 1846-1920) revolutionized the way jewellery was evaluated in Russian society by emphasising creativity and workmanship over the use of precious stones and metals. His studio produced a wide variety of objets d’art, including magnificent jewellery and clocks, as well as enamel cigarette cases, boxes, and frames. His ultimate achievement is a series of jewelled Easter eggs created for the Czars Alexander III and Nicholas II of Russia.
