Photograph Notes: On Friday 9th March 2012 this massive rockfall took place when a huge section of chalk cliff crashed into the sea at Crab Bay between Langdon Hole and Fan Bay. Although it happened during the day it was at high tide so fortunately nobody was beneath. Chalk cliffs will eventually lose their whiteness as can be seen to the left of the fall and it is the breaking of sections of the cliff face which keep the White Cliffs of Dover looking white.
