Original Paul Revere Jr. Silver Dessert Spoon which features the correct Paul Revere Jr. hallmark "PR”. The item measures5 & 3/4” inches long.Includes a great wood case, custom nameplate and a 1/2 oz. 100% silver medallion. Also included - Special white 100% cotton gloves to protect and ensure proper handling of this item and a specially ordered and customized tarnish resistant storage pouch to ensure proper storage and protection of this historical item.This ornate styled, circa late 1700's, early 1800s spoon features a fancy engraved design on the tip of the handle. The spoon has a rounded, upturned handle with the initial “D” engraved. The hallmark stamped “PR” represents (Paul Revere) is found on the reverse side of the handle. This decorative silver dessert spoon was made by America's most famous Revolutionary War Patriot & Silversmith, Paul Revere, Jr.
Being a dessert spoon, it is quite rarer than most other known examples. This would make a wonderful addition a serious collector's collection and one of the finest examples known. You simply don't see these come along everyday. According to the Paul Revere daybooks, roughly 5,000 total silver items produced by Paul Revere, Jr. Of those, only2,479 pieces were Flatware (mostly spoons) – A total of 410 of those were before the war (1761-1783) and a total of 2,069 were made after the war (1783-1797). The remainder of the silver items produced were Teapots, Creamers, Canns, Sugar Tongs, Buckles Ladles and Porringers. It's unknown how many original pieces survived being melted down over the years, lost, etc.
