Canyon Diablo meteor formed Barringer crater, in Arizona about 48,000 years ago. The main mass was vaporized by the massive air pressure and heat as the meteor traveled through the atmosphere. The detonation sent meteorite pieces across miles of the Arizona Desert and created one of the largest meteor craters on the planet. Also interesting, CD is a diamond rich meteorite, which creates beautiful black markings on the cut surface, it also makes this iron incredibly difficult to cut.This is a 125 gram whole individualwith natural patina, uncleaned specimen, as found!
